What customization options are available for windbreaker jacket production?

Custom windbreaker jackets are built from four decisions: fabric and weight, construction and trims, decoration, and the private label pack. Each one changes cost, lead time and how the finished piece reads.

Fabric. The options we run most are nylon woven shells for lightness and a clean surface; polyester woven shells for durability and color stability; ripstop constructions where tear resistance matters. For windbreaker jackets the practical weight reference is lightweight woven shells, with the coating or finish mattering more than the base weight. Ordering by weight figure alone is not enough — two fabrics can both be called the same weight and still behave differently in wash, drape and color retention, so composition and shrinkage are confirmed by wash testing.

Construction and trims. The build includes a DWR finish on the face fabric so rain beads and rolls off; a PU coating for moderate-cost water resistance, accepting lower breathability and a firmer hand; a laminated membrane where the product needs a verified technical performance story; sealed or taped seams, which is the most critical step in any water-resistant construction.

Decoration. Available routes include screen print, heat transfer, embroidery, reflective print, rubber patches. Decoration is approved on the actual fabric rather than on a test swatch, because stretch, pile, coating and heat sensitivity all change the result.

Private label pack. Woven neck labels, size and care labels, logo tags, hangtags, barcoded polybags and printed cartons. A garment can leave the sewing line finished and still not be retail-ready, and this layer is what closes that gap.

A note specific to this category: A windbreaker becomes water-resistant with a DWR finish and waterproof only with a complete system: a coating or membrane, taped seams and a water-resistant zipper. Missing any one of the three means the garment is not waterproof, whatever the fabric mill calls it.
