What customization options are available for hooded sweater production?

Custom hooded sweaters are built from four decisions: fabric and weight, construction and trims, decoration, and the private label pack. Each one changes cost, lead time and how the finished piece reads.

Fabric. The options we run most are knit-look cotton blends for a softer, more elevated surface; cable or rib knit constructions; cotton-poly blends for shape retention. For hooded sweaters the practical weight reference is mid to heavy weight depending on whether the piece is positioned as knitwear or as a hoodie hybrid. Ordering by weight figure alone is not enough — two fabrics can both be called the same weight and still behave differently in wash, drape and color retention, so composition and shrinkage are confirmed by wash testing.

Construction and trims. The build includes a hood built in the same knit as the body so the two do not read as separate garments; ribbed cuffs and hem in a matching gauge; knitwear or cut-and-sew construction depending on target price point; button or drawcord finishing at the neckline.

Decoration. Available routes include embroidery, jacquard patterns, woven labels, patch branding. Decoration is approved on the actual fabric rather than on a test swatch, because stretch, pile, coating and heat sensitivity all change the result.

Private label pack. Woven neck labels, size and care labels, logo tags, hangtags, barcoded polybags and printed cartons. A garment can leave the sewing line finished and still not be retail-ready, and this layer is what closes that gap.

A note specific to this category: A hooded sweater sits between two categories, and that is exactly where development goes wrong: it is sampled as a hoodie but priced as knitwear. Deciding the construction route first — knitwear or cut-and-sew — changes sampling time and MOQ before fabric is even discussed.
