How to manufacture custom hooded sweaters for streetwear?

Choosing a manufacturer for custom hooded sweaters comes down to four checks: category experience, specification control, evidence, and commercial fit.
Category experience. A hooded sweater sits between two categories, and that is exactly where development goes wrong: it is sampled as a hoodie but priced as knitwear. Deciding the construction route first — knitwear or cut-and-sew — changes sampling time and MOQ before fabric is even discussed.
Specification control. A manufacturer should be able to describe the fabric, the weight reference and the construction items it will control: knit-look cotton blends for a softer, more elevated surface and cable or rib knit constructions, with a hood built in the same knit as the body so the two do not read as separate garments and ribbed cuffs and hem in a matching gauge. If those are vague before you order, they will be vague during production.
Evidence. Ask for a QC checklist, a measurement sheet with tolerances, the AQL standard they work to, and a clear statement of what is produced in-house versus subcontracted. A supplier that answers yes to everything has not read your brief.
Commercial fit. Minimum order is 100 pieces per color per style, sampling runs 7–10 days, bulk production 30–45 days, and indicative FOB pricing for hooded sweaters sits in the $8–28+ range — knit construction carries a machine-programming setup that cut-and-sew does not.
