What customization options are available for custom headwear production?

Custom headwear are built from four decisions: fabric and weight, construction and trims, decoration, and the private label pack. Each one changes cost, lead time and how the finished piece reads.

Fabric. The options we run most are cotton twill for structured caps; nylon and technical fabrics for performance headwear; knitted constructions for beanies. For headwear the practical weight reference is headwear is specified by construction type rather than by GSM. Ordering by weight figure alone is not enough — two fabrics can both be called the same weight and still behave differently in wash, drape and color retention, so composition and shrinkage are confirmed by wash testing.

Construction and trims. The build includes closure type agreed by style: snapback, strapback, stretch fit or knitted; front panel construction — foam front, buckram or unstructured; 3D or flat embroidery digitised and tested on the actual panel; labeling and inside taping finished to retail standard.

Decoration. Available routes include 3D embroidery, flat embroidery, patches, woven labels, printed branding, custom closures. Decoration is approved on the actual fabric rather than on a test swatch, because stretch, pile, coating and heat sensitivity all change the result.

Private label pack. Woven neck labels, size and care labels, logo tags, hangtags, barcoded polybags and printed cartons. A garment can leave the sewing line finished and still not be retail-ready, and this layer is what closes that gap.

A note specific to this category: Headwear is where embroidery digitising is the whole game. A logo that reads well on screen can lose definition at 3D puff on a curved foam panel, so artwork is digitised and stitched before the production run rather than after.
