How to order custom bomber jackets with OEM manufacturing?

Choosing a manufacturer for custom bomber jackets comes down to four checks: category experience, specification control, evidence, and commercial fit.

Category experience. Bomber jackets fail on shell and rib in predictable ways. Colorfastness matters most on satin and PU, where a poor dye lot shows after the first wash; abrasion matters at rib and cuff edges, which are the first areas to look tired.

Specification control. A manufacturer should be able to describe the fabric, the weight reference and the construction items it will control: glossy nylon flight satin for the classic MA-1 look and Taslan or microfiber for a matte, streetwear-friendly surface, with 1×1 or 2×2 rib knit cuffs, hem and collar, with rib height controlling whether the silhouette reads classic, boxy or cropped and 190T–230T polyester taffeta lining as the default, because it lets the jacket slide on and off. If those are vague before you order, they will be vague during production.

Evidence. Ask for a QC checklist, a measurement sheet with tolerances, the AQL standard they work to, and a clear statement of what is produced in-house versus subcontracted. A supplier that answers yes to everything has not read your brief.

Commercial fit. Minimum order is 100 pieces per color per style, sampling runs 7–10 days, bulk production 30–45 days, and indicative FOB pricing for bomber jackets sits in the $15–35 range — what separates a $15 bomber from a $45 bomber is almost never the shell alone — it is rib quality, hardware, lining, patch method and stitch density.
