What denim jacket styles can Vanrd manufacture for different brands and use cases?

VANRD manufactures five denim jacket silhouettes for brand and team programs: Type I/II/III trucker styles, longer chore coats, cropped and boxy streetwear cuts, denim shackets, and adapted team or uniform blocks. Each one carries a different weight recommendation, because the silhouette decides how much structure the denim has to give.

1. Trucker styles (Type I, II and III). The reference denim jacket. Body panels, yoke shape and pleat configuration differ between the three generations, and those are pattern decisions rather than styling notes — a Type I yoke cannot be approximated from a photo. Best at 11–13 oz for the commercial middle, or 14–16 oz when the piece is positioned as heritage.

2. Chore coats. Longer body, straight hem, large patch pockets, often a button front with a heavier placket. Reads closer to workwear than to fashion, and holds that read best at 12–14 oz where the fabric has enough body to sit away from the torso.

3. Cropped and boxy streetwear cuts. Shortened body, dropped shoulder, wider chest. The silhouette is doing the work here, so 8–10 oz is often the right choice — a lighter denim gives the softer, more fashion-forward hand that a boxy cut needs, while a heavy denim in the same shape reads stiff rather than deliberate.

4. Denim shackets. Sits between a shirt and a jacket: a shirt collar and placket, jacket-length body, usually with a lighter or brushed hand. Best at 8–11 oz, because the piece has to layer under outerwear without bulk at the shoulders.

5. Team and uniform adaptations. Any of the above blocks adapted with team colors, patches or embroidery for group orders and merch lines. The construction stays the same; the decoration and the color program change. These are usually built on the mid-weight band so the piece works as a layer rather than as outerwear.

The customisation layer over any of them. Wash program (rinse, stone, enzyme, acid, sandblast, whiskering, destroyed), hardware matched to the wash level, chest and hand pockets, waist adjusters or side tabs, shoulder epaulettes, and back panel placement for screen print or embroidery. The wash is the single decision that changes the product most — two jackets from the same 12 oz denim in the same pattern, one rinsed and one heavily distressed, are not the same item.

The approval point most brands get wrong. Denim jackets are approved on the washed garment, not the prototype. Fit approval based on an unwashed sample and then a heavy wash in bulk is how the same style arrives two sizes off spec, which is why shrinkage is confirmed by wash testing before bulk cutting.

Indicative FOB pricing is $15–60+ per unit, with fabric weight, wash development and hardware the main cost lines. Sampling runs 7–10 days plus wash development, and bulk production 30–45 days after pre-production approval. The minimum order is 100 pieces per color per style.
